The NKA series pneumatic quick connectors are engineered for pressure and air-tightness testing of straight tubes, drilled components, and internally threaded parts. Designed for automated production lines and quality inspection stations, these connectors use an elastic rubber gasket sealing principle that accommodates circular and rough surfaces as well as test specimens with significant dimensional tolerances. The pneumatic actuation system enables automated connection and disconnection, reducing manual cycle time and supporting consistent repeatability in high-volume testing environments. Industrial clients in automotive, medical device, and HVAC manufacturing rely on the NKA series to integrate leak testing into automated workflows.
The NKA series employs a friction-based sealing mechanism in which the rubber gasket expands against the specimen surface to create a reliable seal. Because the connection depends on friction between the gasket and the test surface, neither the gasket nor the sealed surface should be exposed to water or lubricants during operation. The connectors apply no axial or lateral forces to the test specimen, making them suitable for delicate or thin-walled components. The housing, piston, and gasket carrier are constructed from aluminum alloy, while the main seal uses an O-ring of nitrile rubber (NBR) or chloroprene. For applications involving significant wear, polyurethane seals are available as an alternative. Special dual-port versions can be supplied for sealing two closely spaced ports, and extended-length models are offered to accommodate specific space requirements.
The NKA series operates from vacuum to a maximum working pressure of 9 bar. Additional pressure ranges are available upon request. When used in pressurized test environments, the connectors require a securing device; no securing device is needed for vacuum-only applications.
The pneumatic actuation system requires 4 to 12 bar of clean, dry compressed air.
The reference standard leakage rate is 10⁻³ mbar·l/s (equivalent to 10⁻⁴ Pa·m³/s). Lower leakage rates can be provided upon request, depending on the customer's detailed specifications including testing method, temperature, and pressure, as well as the quality of supplied samples regarding seal surface treatment, roughness, and dimensional tolerances.

The NKA series supports a range of test methods including pressure decay testing, underwater immersion testing, and helium leak detection. Beyond leak testing, the connectors are used for filling operations, pressure and functional testing, and flushing procedures. Typical components tested include containers, plastic enclosures, medical devices, valves, pumps, filters, pressure vessels, and pipeline connections. The series is deployed across automotive component manufacturing, medical device assembly, HVAC production, and general industrial quality control, where automated connection reduces operator dependency and supports consistent test results.
Secure the connector with a fixed clamp, insert the NKA connector into the test piece, apply control air pressure to establish the connection, then supply the test pressure.
Always release the test pressure first, then release the control pressure before removing the connector. Reversing this order may cause unexpected pressure release.
Each model supports field-replaceable seals. Refer to the replacement seal part number in the specification table when ordering consumables. Polyurethane seals are recommended for applications with elevated wear conditions.
When placing an order, please specify the part number, required pressure range, test medium and target leakage rate, operating temperature range, space constraints, and a CAD drawing or sample of the test piece. If a suitable standard model is not found, custom configurations including dual-port and extended-length versions can be developed based on application requirements.
The NKA series is compatible with compressed air, nitrogen, and helium for leak testing. For liquid media or special gases, consult the factory for seal material compatibility before deployment.
Identify the outer diameter or sealing range of your test piece and match it to the "Sealing Range A" column in the specification table. Verify that the working pressure, test medium, and available installation space fall within the connector's rated limits.
Yes, each NKA model uses field-replaceable seals. The replacement seal part number is listed in the specification table for each configuration, allowing maintenance teams to manage consumables locally.
Yes, dual-port versions for closely spaced ports and extended-length models for restricted access areas are available. Provide a CAD drawing of the test piece and space requirements for a custom configuration recommendation.
